Specific tasks UCAN-U
UCAN-U activities will be in three main fields:
- Generating, sharing and storing of materials, protocols, ideas and expertise
- Providing an infrastructure that supports and facilitates exchange between researchers
- Promoting and providing training and education of professionals

Generating, sharing and storing of materials, protocols, ideas and expertise
To meet this aim, UCAN-U seeks to
- Develop and validate SOP’s for handling, transportation and storage of biological samples.
- Develop of a repository and database for biological material
- Validate existing biological assays
- Develop and validate new, high-tier biological assays
- Develop an e-platform for knowledge exchange and communication
Providing an infrastructure that supports and facilitates exchange between researchers
To meet this aim, UCAN-U seeks to
- Built an e-platform that provides support to other UCAN centres by sharing knowledge and expertise
- Support biological studies initiated by UCAN or its international partners (PRES, PRINTO, PRSG, CARRA)
- Promote and facilitate the incorporation of biological studies in future drug trials in children with JIA
Promoting and providing training and education of professionals
To meet this aim, UCAN-U seeks to
- Actively promote training and education by sharing information
- Provide a platform for communication by young researchers
- Develop together with the Eureka Institute a training program for selected high potential young researchers
