Short summary research:

Our research focusses on transcriptional mechanisms that regulate immune system processes. In particular we focus on cAMP dependent transcription factors including CREM and CREB in T cells and antigen-presenting cells. We found that they are important for T cell differentiation including TH17 an TH2 pathways and influence IL-2 transcription in systemic lupus erythematosus but also play a role in other autoimmune conditions like juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

In addition we expanded our research to the role of oxidative stress mediated pathways in autoimmunity and inflammation. In particular we focus on Nrf2/Keap1 mediated pathways and their regulation on myeloid cells and regulatory T cells.
